Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze potential conflicts of interest associated with new client mandates, new matters for existing clients, and lateral hire submissions.
  • Assist in the substantive review of generated due diligence reports on new client parties and co-client parties.
  • Draft conflict waivers, informational walls, and engagement letters as needed.
  • Substantively review and analyze conflicts of interest reports generated by the Conflicts Analysts.
  • Identify and resolve potential conflicts associated with preliminary conflicts checks.
  • Document, track, and keep a record of all assigned/claimed and subsequently cleared/approved conflicts clearance projects/matters.
  • Perform other miscellaneous conflicts-related tasks as assigned by the Conflicts Counsel, COO, and General Counsel.
Requirements:
  • 4-year degree from an accredited college or university and a Juris Doctor or equivalent.
  • Admission to and an active member in good standing with the NY Bar.
  • Minimum of 3 years of conflicts resolution/legal ethics experience gained as a Conflicts Attorney, preferably with another comparable sophisticated mid-size or large law firm.
  • Working knowledge of the rules of professional responsibility/conduct and, specifically, the NY Rules of Professional Conduct and ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct.
  • Experience with automated/electronic conflicts of interest management/checking systems, such as Upfront, Intapp, and E-Valuate.
  • Proficiency in Outlook and MS Office Suite products.
  • Ability to employ the utmost care and use discretion when handling, accessing, or otherwise being privy to sensitive and confidential client information.
