Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Superintendent to join our team at Kiewit Power Delivery. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a crucial role in the success of our projects.

Responsibilities
  • Mentor and develop junior superintendents to ensure a smooth transition of knowledge and skills.
  • Review and approve labor rates for foremen, journeymen, and laborers to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Manage contract administration, including communication with subcontractors and field management.
  • Develop and implement a program to maintain positive client relationships, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution.
  • Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Review, approve, and negotiate change orders to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
  • Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover, ensuring a smooth transition to the next phase.
  • Maintain a daily diary for record-keeping purposes, ensuring accurate documentation of project progress.
  • Ensure timely completion of performance evaluations for direct reports, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Recommend organizational, policy, and procedural changes to improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of construction experience, with 3+ years in a superintendent or leadership role, preferably on transmission and substation projects.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision, with excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes, including Kiewit's policies, procedures, and software programs.
  • Strong experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration.
