Job Summary

At Jennie Stuart Health, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Surgical team. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

* Provide safe and effective patient care in accordance with JSMC policy and procedure, CMS standards and regulations, and Joint Commission standards and regulations.
* Identify patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with patients and other individuals who can understand care needs.
* Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends.
* Promote patient independence by establishing care goals, teaching patients and families about conditions, medications, and self-care skills, and answering questions.
* Ensure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against care goals and standards, making necessary adjustments, and following hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care.
* Resolve patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
* Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and calling for assistance from healthcare support personnel.
* Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
* Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
* Maintain continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
* Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
* Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
* Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

Requirements

* High School Graduate or GED equivalent
* Minimum Work Experience: Nursing Assistant experience preferred
* Preferred Licenses: Certified Nurse Aide from the state of Kentucky
* Required Licenses: BLS certification - American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or American Red Cross (Healthcare Provider) required, must be current
* Required Experience: One year experience in Nursing/Surgery preferred
* Minimum Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing. Bachelors of Science in Nursing preferred.
