Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Marine Systems Engineer to join our team at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division's Naval Architecture and Engineering Department.

The successful candidate will contribute to new or improved understanding in concepts and technology, fundamental and applied research of the marine environment, engineering, and naval architecture.

  • Collaborate with experts in hydromechanics, maneuvering and control, fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, modeling and simulation, test and evaluation, and training.
Responsibilities

This role involves one or more of the following:

  • Marine and Mechanical Engineering: Provide analysis in fluid systems design, main propulsion systems, auxiliary systems, HVAC systems, control and instrumentation, deck machinery, vibration analysis, and shafting and propulsion train analysis.
  • Marine and Atmospheric Environment: Utilize physical oceanography and wave generation data to create, modify, and simulate marine and atmospheric conditions for virtual or scale model testing.
  • Physical Oceanography and Wave Generation: Conduct studies to develop theory, apply science to, and conduct experiments to enhance understanding of the marine environment regarding ocean and coastal seaways used in model-scale and full-scale platform performance assessment.
