A marine warranty surveyor is a professional who provides independent verification and approval of marine operations and assets,such as vessels, platforms, pipelines, offshore wind farms, and subsea equipment. They ensure that the design, construction,installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of these assets comply with the relevant standards, codes, and regulations.They also assess the risks and hazards involved in the marine operations and provide recommendations to mitigate them.A marine warranty surveyor works closely with clients, contractors, engineers, insurers, and regulators to ensure the safety,integrity, and efficiency of the offshore projects.

Responsibilities:
  1. Review and approve the engineering design, drawings, calculations, procedures, and manuals for the marine operations and assets.
  2. Conduct site inspections, audits, surveys, and tests of the marine operations and assets, both onshore and offshore.
  3. Prepare and issue survey reports, certificates, and approvals for the marine operations and assets.
  4. Monitor and supervise the marine operations and assets, such as load-out, transportation, installation, hook-up, commissioning, and decommissioning.
  5. Identify and report any non-conformities, defects, damages, or deviations from the approved plans and specifications.
  6. Provide technical advice and guidance to the clients, contractors, engineers, insurers, and regulators on the marine operations and assets.
  7. Keep abreast of the latest developments, standards, codes, and regulations in the offshore industry.
  8. Participation in and contribute to a variety of services delivered from department including, but not limited structural FEA, stability, hydrodynamics, transportation and installation, moorings and riser systems.

Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in marine engineering, naval architecture, offshore structural engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in the offshore industry, preferably as marine engineer, naval architect, structural or offshore engineer.
  • A thorough knowledge of the offshore industry, including the design, construction, installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of marine operations and assets.
  • A strong understanding of the relevant standards, codes, and regulations in the offshore industry, such as IMO, ABS, DNV, and ISO.
  • Software and tools: DNV SESAM suites, GHS, AQWA, Orcaflex, experience is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD is advantageous.
  • Programming in Python is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report writing skills (Must be proficient in both Japanese and English).
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to travel and work in various locations, both onshore and offshore.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
