Axient is in search of a part-time Explosive Safety Compliance Specialist to contribute to the Pad Safety inspection program, ensuring adherence to the Department of Defense (DoD) Explosives Safety Standards and other relevant regulations. This role is crucial for maintaining a robust safety framework for operational facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Conduct Explosive Spot Inspections and Annual Safety Assessments, focusing on areas of concern identified through previous evaluations. These inspections will be performed as necessary, based on facility priorities.

+ Collaborate with hazardous operations to carry out pre-operational safety checks.

+ Execute follow-up inspections within thirty (30) days to verify that corrective measures have been implemented for any identified issues.

+ Document findings and provide detailed comments on inspection checklists, including the number of inspections conducted and deficiencies noted in the Monthly Activities Report.

+ Submit completed inspection checklists to the Explosives Section for record-keeping and to aid in the development of Quarterly Safety Council metrics.

+ Identify any immediately hazardous situations during inspections, leading to work stoppage and necessary notifications to the responsible parties. Minor discrepancies will require communication with the General Project Manager and Range User.

+ Perform explosives safety evaluations in compliance with AFI guidelines, utilizing the designated database for documentation. Carry out a minimum of three spot inspections monthly as directed by the Chief of Safety.

Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

+ At least 10 years of experience in explosives safety (military or government).

+ High School Diploma.

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

+ Knowledge of Net Explosive Weights (NEW) and explosive arcs.

+ Familiarity with DoD Explosives Safety Standards and experience in conducting safety inspections.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s Degree.

+ Active or current DoD security clearance at the necessary level.

+ Experience in Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD).

+ Understanding of various safety regulations and standards related to explosives.
