As a Medical Assistant at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team. Key Responsibilities- Customer Service
- Utilize current technology to efficiently manage patient flow and check-in processes.
- Communicate proactively with patients regarding delays and provide timely updates.
- Demonstrate professional behavior in all interactions with patients and visitors.
- Identify and address patient/visitor needs in a timely and courteous manner.
- Planning and Managing Care
- Gather and document patient screening data and other relevant information.
- Assist healthcare providers with routine office procedures, including preparing patients for examination and performing diagnostic testing.
- Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to maintain efficient and effective clinic flow.
- Perform clerical responsibilities, including maintaining patient charts and preparing diagnostic testing requisitions.
- Patient/Family Education
- Distribute patient education materials as directed by clinical staff.
- Facilitate identification of resources to meet patient healthcare needs.
- Continuous Learning
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Develop and achieve personal and professional goals.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
- Coordinate patient care as directed by healthcare providers.
- Utilize electronic health records (EHR) effectively.
- Triage and Response
- Triage patient/family calls and respond to phone/email messages in a timely and professional manner.
- Respond to patient questions/concerns/problems and refer to immediate supervisor, clinic staff, or healthcare provider as needed.
- Graduate of an approved medical assisting program.
- Less than 1 year of relevant work experience.
