Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at the Defense Health Agency Civilian Corps in Falls Church, VA. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing a variety of clinical laboratory tests and examinations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide range of clinical laboratory tests and examinations, including hematology, coagulation, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, immunoassays, Blood Bank, and microbiology.
  • Operate complex semi-automated and automated equipment, including analyzers and microscopes.
  • Interpret test results, identify abnormalities, and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Conduct quality control procedures, including calibration and maintenance of equipment.
  • Participate in proficiency testing and quality assurance programs.
  • Assist in the training and development of new laboratory personnel.
Requirements
  • Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification or equivalent.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in medical technology or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a laboratory setting, which may involve exposure to hazardous materials and equipment. The selected candidate must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
