About the Role

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to lead the design of flood risk management systems, including floodwalls, stormwater pumping stations, and navigation floodgates. As a key member of our Central Civil Works Department, you will work on projects across the nation and the world, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, project managers, and environmental specialists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of structural analyses, plans, specifications, cost estimates, technical reports, and other project documents.
  • Collaborate with clients and AECOM counterparts to ensure stakeholder buy-in to solutions and contribute to AECOM's wider technical capability and innovative approach.
  • Oversee and review work produced by others, following all quality control measures to ensure timely and accurate results.
  • Seek opportunities to innovate and trial new methods, being inquisitive and forward-thinking.
  • Mentor and delegate tasks, direct and oversee the work of others, and act as a technical mentor.
  • Work closely with the multi-discipline project team, including civil, geotechnical, H&H engineers, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, surveyors, and consultants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering field, plus 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer license in one state in the US and ability to easily obtain licenses in other states via reciprocity.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters in Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Structural Engineer license in one state in the US.
  • At least 12 years of experience as a Structural Engineer, with a focus on design of flood risk management projects.
  • Expertise in structural design and construction requirements for flood risk management projects, including dams, locks, floodwalls, stormwater pump stations, navigation floodgates, etc.
  • Expertise in software such as SAP2000, Excel, CPGA, and GROUP.
  • Experience working on federal projects for agencies like USACE, USIBWC, FEMA, NRCS, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Bentley OpenRoads and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Flood Risk Management design and construction projects specifically for USACE.
  • Working knowledge of federal flood control design guidelines, like USACE Engineering Manuals and FEMAs 44 CFR Section 65.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients.
  • Experience in alternative delivery projects, not necessarily in flood risk management.
