About the Role

Target is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our Supply Chain team. As a key technical subject matter expert, you will be responsible for ensuring high equipment availability and optimizing system performance.

You will use preventive and predictive maintenance processes, rapidly troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, and quickly restore equipment to service in support of successful operation of the supply chain facility.

You will work with other Target engineers and operational partners to optimize the performance and flow of the material handling equipment and will lead building automation, continuous improvement, and new installation initiatives.

You will serve as an escalated support resource during downtime events, ensuring proper processes and training procedures are implemented as part of root cause analysis, and you will proactively monitor the overall health of the building's material handling equipment.

You will serve as an expert who understands material flow optimization, system controls logic, and facilitates and trains effective troubleshooting techniques.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively monitor and maintain the buildings systems, maintaining expertise around all electrical, mechanical and control system communication aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) on site, including conveyor systems, sortation, robotics, and Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS).
  • Use diagnostic software and tools to collect and analyze data to identify trends and recommend improvements to the building automation.
  • Conduct technical interviews for internal and external technician candidates, evaluate technical skills and abilities, and train and coach internal technicians.
  • Support training plan development and progress follow up.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge and facilitate site training on appropriate safety procedures and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment (Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, etc.), and ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazards.


Requirements:

  • Two or four-year Degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering or equivalent degree / experience
  • Available to work all days and shifts (24 hours a day, 7 days a week operation, including holidays)
  • Industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting, including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems
  • Experience with installing and maintaining many types of software and hardware
  • Strong organization and problem solving skills with a drive for results and the ability to handle multiple tasks and teams
