Grade 3 - $16.71 per hour/Grade 4 - $17.15 per hour

JOB HOURS:
35 hours per week (M-F)

JOB LOCATION:
Carthage Head Start Program

JOB SUMMARY:
The Teacher Assistant supports the Master Teacher in the development and execution of age-appropriate activities for preschool children, ensuring their safety and adherence to Head Start performance standards.

This role includes conducting home visits, taking the lead in the classroom during the Master Teacher's absence, and managing necessary recordkeeping.

The Teacher Assistant also undertakes bus monitoring responsibilities as assigned by the Center Coordinator.

EDUCATION:
Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or a current preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) credential is required.

EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience in a licensed or registered early childhood setting is essential.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
The ideal candidate must demonstrate supportiveness and non-judgmental attitudes when working with children and families; maintain confidentiality regarding program and agency-related information; advocate for children and families; collaborate effectively with all Head Start staff to deliver quality programming; observe and document children's behaviors accurately; possess proficient computer skills; and exhibit excellent written and verbal communication abilities. A valid driver's license is mandatory.

OTHER:
Preference will be given to qualified in-house applicants.

Employment is contingent upon satisfactory medical examination and TB test results; clearances from the NYS Child Abuse Central Register and NYS Office of Children and Family Services at the time of hire.

Employees must sign an affidavit annually confirming they have not been indicated in a child abuse or neglect case within the past year.

Community Action is a substance-free workplace and conducts random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug testing.

Physical requirements of the role include standing, sitting, walking, bending and kneeling to a child's eye level, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
