The Physician Assistant (PA) in the Hospitalist role will collaborate with our team of physicians and healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care to patients admitted to the hospital. The PA will oversee patient management from admission through discharge, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and efficient medical services.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments and gather medical histories of admitted patients.
- Formulate and execute treatment strategies in partnership with supervising physicians.
- Perform daily rounds to evaluate and manage patient recovery.
- Order and interpret diagnostic evaluations including laboratory tests, imaging studies, and EKGs.
- Prescribe medications and other therapeutic measures as necessary.
- Coordinate patient care with nursing staff, specialists, and other healthcare providers.
- Inform patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge procedures.
- Maintain precise and comprehensive medical documentation in accordance with hospital regulations and standards.
- Engage in quality improvement projects and continuous professional development.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Valid PA license in the state of New York.
- Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Prior experience in a hospitalist or inpatient environment is essential.
