Job Summary

MedStar Health is seeking a skilled Coding Specialist III to join our team. This role requires a strong background in medical coding, with a focus on orthopedics. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in medical-professional coding and hold certifications such as CPC and COSC.

Key Responsibilities

Abstract and ensure accuracy of diagnosis, procedure, patient demographics, and other required data elements.
Assist in creating training and educational coding guidance documents for physicians and associates.
Develop guidance to clinicians to optimize dictations and promote compliance and claim processing.
Maintain billing, coding, and edit dictionaries in the billing system.
Meet or exceed established Quality, Accuracy, and Productivity standards.

Requirements

5-7 years of medical-professional coding experience.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
CPC certification required.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to interact effectively with physicians, liaisons, and department administrators.
Ability to work independently and practice self-direction.
Working knowledge of payer policies, CMS policies, and local and national regulatory and compliance policies.
