Overview:

The primary objective of this role is to establish new or adjust existing CICS regions to support emerging applications or to enhance CICS architecture. Additionally, the position involves diagnosing and resolving issues related to CICS application software, configuration, or other software-related challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new CICS regions and set up suitable Resource Definition Online (RDO) definitions to meet application requirements throughout Integration, Training, Acceptance, and Production life cycles, adhering to established CICS region build standards.
  • Revise CICS architecture to eliminate any Single Points of Failure within the system.
  • Handle Job Control Language (JCL) and RDO modifications based on service requests assigned by management.
  • Prepare necessary change management documentation and procedures using templates provided by management.
  • Update CICS configuration documentation to accurately reflect architectural changes.
  • Collaborate with application developers and testers to ensure all CICS resources (such as Files, Programs, Transactions, DB2, IDMS) are correctly identified and defined.
  • Design and implement monitoring capabilities for the CICS production environment to detect issues and generate automated alerts for designated personnel.
  • Provide 24/7 pager support to address CICS-related issues as they arise, ensuring a response within 30 minutes of notification.
  • Offer technical expertise on CICS application and configuration matters, working 40 hours per week using a laptop workstation.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot CICS systems and application issues, facilitating necessary corrective actions.
