Job Summary

The University of Arkansas System seeks a highly experienced and skilled Vice President of Benefits and Risk Management Services to lead our benefits and risk management functions. This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of HR policies, employment-related regulations, and benefits administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive benefits and risk management strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and optimize benefits for employees.
  • Manage a team of professionals responsible for benefits and risk management procurement activities, including vendor relationships and contract negotiations.
  • Coordinate with campuses throughout the System to provide HR guidance and support on benefits and risk management-related matters.
  • Oversee the administration of benefits plans, including self-funded medical and dental plans, disability, accident insurance, and spending account administration.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with benefits vendors, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure effective benefits and risk management services.
  • Provide data analysis, budgeting, and cost projections to inform benefits and risk management decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including 1095 reporting and state-level certifications of compliance.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 10 years of HR, benefits, and/or risk management experience, with at least 5 years of senior HR leadership experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field, with an advanced degree in finance, insurance, or business preferred.
  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), or Certified Risk Manager (CRM) certification highly desired.
  • Thorough knowledge of HR policies and employment-related regulations, with extensive experience in benefits administration and risk management.
  • Previous employment in the public sector and higher education preferred.
