Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Family Support Specialist to join our team at Child and Family Service. In this role, you will provide short-term outreach and home visiting services to families who are considered low-risk and are referred by Child Welfare Intake (CWI), Child Welfare Services (CWS), or Voluntary Case Management (VCM).

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage families in services and conduct intake/assessment with families.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Placement Plans (IPPs) and service plans with families.
  • Teach and provide information on child development, stress management, parenting, and family life as indicated by family-identified risk issues and needs.
  • Link families to community resources and provide advocacy or concrete help to negotiate systems to receive needed services.
  • Provide transportation to medical, legal, and social service appointments as needed and after consultation with supervisor.
Requirements
  • Four-Year College Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency, social work, psychology, or related field.
  • Over one year, up to and including two years of experience working with families experiencing child abuse and neglect issues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of child growth, development, and behavior; positive parenting practices; case management and advocacy practices and techniques.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with families of diverse ethnic, cultural, socio-economic backgrounds, and gender/sexual orientation.
