RN - Orthopedic and Adult Advanced Acute Care Unit Nurse

Geisinger Health System is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Orthopedic and Adult Advanced Acute Care Unit. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and promoting a culture of safety and excellence.
Responsibilities- Deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Direct and guide patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel.
- Provide direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies, according to policy and procedure.
- Complete assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
- Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
- Formulate, coordinate, and provide a plan of care as established in unit standards, including patient and family education, family needs, and discharge planning.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise the plan of care based on patient response to interventions.
- Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs.
- Make assignments in collaboration with other team members and direct and alter assignments in response to changes in patient situations.
- Promote teamwork by delegating tasks to team members based on skill, expertise, time availability, acuity, and needs of the patient.
- Problem solve, troubleshoot, and take corrective measures in the care and handling of equipment.
- Participate in unit-based decision-making regarding the utilization of evidence-based practice.
- Actively participate as a team member working toward team goals of the unit and organization and be accountable for unit and system-specific metrics.
- Support and participate in initiatives that support the Magnet mission.
- Actively participate in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program-Nursing.
- Basic Life Support Certification.
- Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania).
