Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Manager to join our team at Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries. The successful candidate will provide leadership and support to our facility in Blytheville, AR, and will be responsible for developing, implementing, and directing our Occupational Health and Safety Program.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and coaching to the facility's management team on all safety and health matters.
- Manage post-incident matters, including incident investigations, post-incident action items, Workers Compensation claims, and Early and Safe Return to Work initiatives.
- Conduct periodic inspections and audits of the facility, departments, and equipment to identify hazards and conditions.
- Make recommendations and facilitate the implementation of effective measures to eliminate or reduce hazards to an acceptable level.
- Facilitate and attend monthly management Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings, providing guidance and expertise on safety and health matters.
- Develop and facilitate various training programs, including orientation, mobile equipment, crane, material handling, and HazCom.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive Job Safety Analysis for all positions throughout the facility.
- Maintain detailed documentation on all safety and health matters, including incident reports, risk assessments, Workers Compensation documentation, and OSHA 300 logs.
- Provide regular progress updates to the Director of Health and Safety through various methods.
- Provide assistance in safety-related matters at all Zekelman facilities as required.
- Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy.
- Remain informed on new legislation and regulations and ensure compliance as required.
Qualifications:
- Technical or Bachelor's Degree and 2-5 years of experience in heavy/industrial manufacturing.
- Strong safety background required.
- Exceptional project management skills.
- Training program facilitation and management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work with all levels of employees.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain security and confidentiality of sensitive documents and personnel information.
- Experience using Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and general technological savviness is required.
- Workers Compensation Claims Management experience and knowledge of OSHA preferred.
- Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role.
Physical Abilities:
- Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for several hours.
- Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull.
- Ability to perform work in a plant/manufacturing environment.
- Other physical requirements as needed for the job.
