Role Summary:

This position involves performing custodial tasks such as dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and shampooing carpets, washing windows, cleaning and restocking restrooms, and maintaining floors through finishing and buffing. Additionally, the custodian will be responsible for transporting Corps vehicles to local grocery stores for the collection of donated food items as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the Corps headquarters building in excellent condition, ensuring a clean and organized environment.
  • Execute all tasks outlined in the attached Custodial Duty Schedule.
  • Communicate cleaning supply needs to the Corps Officer, maintaining a one-week inventory level.
  • Keep facilities tidy and orderly, which includes vacuuming, restroom sanitation, trash disposal, window cleaning, storage organization, dusting, floor washing, carpet cleaning, and maintaining furniture cleanliness.
  • Perform daily cleaning of Social Services Shower.
  • Collect food donations from local grocery stores and restaurants, accurately logging counts for reporting purposes.
  • Conduct minor maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Set up and dismantle for rental groups as assigned.
  • Complete additional tasks as directed by the Corps Officer.
  • Maintain OSHA-required Safety Data Sheet (SDS) records.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly, utilizing proper lifting techniques.
  • Ability to read, understand, and enforce safety protocols.
  • Competence in safely handling cleaning materials.
  • Proficiency in operating vacuums and other cleaning equipment.
  • Must pass The Salvation Army's Safe From Harm screening.
  • Must successfully complete The Salvation Army Annual Driving Examination.
  • Qualified individuals must be able to perform essential duties with or without accommodation. Additional Information:

Employees are expected to be familiar with The Salvation Army Western Territory Handbook for Employees. Questions regarding its contents should be directed to the immediate supervisor or the Corps Officer.
