Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Superintendent to join our team at Deffenbaugh Homes. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, and implementation of quality-built homes from development through final construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the coordination of quality-built homes, ensuring timely and economical completion
  • Oversee the selection, coordination, and management of people, materials, budgets, and schedules
  • Direct and monitor the progress of multiple projects, ensuring compliance with building and safety codes
  • Maintain safe, clean, and compliant job sites
  • Track and control construction costs against the budget to avoid cost overruns
  • Schedule and manage subcontractors and subcontractor relationships to build homes on schedule and close projects on time
  • Complete homes and all customer walk-through items prior to closing
  • Maintain and direct computer-based scheduling to optimize efficiency

Requirements:

  • Establish good working relationships with various stakeholders, including upper management, designers, sales, trades, vendors, and customers
  • Follow up with homeowners to ensure concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner
  • Supervise effectively at all levels, with a variety of personalities
  • Motivate building partners to perform at a high level of competency
  • Manage time effectively, multi-task, and prioritize to meet established goals and deadlines
  • Computer proficiency required to handle job scheduling, costing, payroll, and communication with vendors and trades
  • Be decisive, flexible, and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Analyze and resolve problems, with excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of construction practices and terminology, with the ability to read and understand blueprints and construction documents
  • Attention to detail and persistence in follow-up

  • Able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds
  • Report to Operations leader daily and adhere to schedule
  • Able to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer and/or electronic device
  • Able to have face-to-face conversations with customers, co-workers, and higher-level managers
