Position Overview:


External applicants with a minimum of six months of direct RN experience may qualify for a $20,000 sign-on bonus. To be eligible, candidates must be hired into a full-time or part-time role; PRN positions do not qualify.

The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Penrose Hospital, recognized as a Magnet hospital, features 36 beds within a Level II Trauma and Primary Stroke Center.

Our ICU nurses specialize in caring for a wide range of patients requiring intensive monitoring and advanced care.

Our patient demographic includes medical, surgical, trauma, stroke, and post-operative cardio-thoracic cases.

Our nurses provide care for trauma patients aged 15 and older and medical/surgical patients aged 18 and older.

The diverse patient population allows nurses to cultivate a broad skill set.

ICU nurses manage various cardiac and vascular patients who have undergone procedures such as Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG), transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), valve repairs, and aortic aneurysm repairs, as well as those requiring Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps (IAPB), Impella devices, and Continuous Venous-Venous Hemodialysis (CVVHD/CRRT).

Stroke care includes both systemic and intracerebral tPA and Neuro Interventional Radiology procedures (NIR). We advocate for a multidisciplinary approach to ensure exceptional patient care. Our interdepartmental collaboration enables our staff to provide inclusive care to patients and families. The ICU leadership and clinical teams promote shared governance through active participation in unit and hospital committees. Nurses are encouraged to pursue further education and career advancement through certification and continuing education.

Join our team as a Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Coordinator.



Key Responsibilities:


In the role of RN Clinical Coordinator, you will:

  • Support the department director/manager by coordinating clinical and departmental activities for the unit, including shift charge responsibilities.
  • Ensure that care is provided to each patient in alignment with quality standards.
  • Act as a liaison between physicians and the patient care team, maintaining effective communication and fostering collaboration with unit staff and other departments.
  • Supervise staff, authorize work procedures, and assign duties.
  • Provide input and recommendations to the director/manager regarding coaching, mentoring, and performance management of associates.
  • Promote the optimal health, well-being, and safety of patients through the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Be personally accountable for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • 1 year of recent clinical ICU RN experience
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required
  • BSN preferred
  • RN License to practice in the state of employment required
  • Nursing Specialty Certification related to the specialty is strongly preferred
  • BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS certifications required
  • Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Ability to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs constantly)
