Sleep Study Technologist

Position Overview:
The Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for executing and managing physiological assessments related to sleep and associated disorders. This role involves delivering patient care through advanced technology, therapeutic measures, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
Work Schedule:
12-hour night shifts, 3 shifts per week (36 hours).
Incentives:
To demonstrate our commitment to your career transition, we offer a sign-on bonus of up to $7,500 along with relocation assistance if applicable. Night shifts only.
Key Responsibilities:
- As a Polysomnographic Technologist, you will be expected to:
- Effectively operate equipment and conduct all procedures within the sleep laboratory.
- Perform patient connections and calibrate machines in accordance with departmental protocols.
- Adhere to established procedures to guarantee precise data collection.
- Exhibit proficiency in understanding Polysomnographic data, initiating treatment, and following established protocols based on findings.
- Regularly score studies conducted and prepare reports for physician review and recommendations.
- Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical occurrences, to assist in the scoring and interpretation of Polysomnographic results.
- Conduct follow-up phone calls as required by AASM standards.
- Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards concerning safety and infection control.
- Engage in the maintenance and care of equipment, reporting any irregularities.
- Provide patient education and adapt teaching methods to meet individual patient needs.
- Participate in the inter-scorer reliability program (ISR) and achieve scoring quality assurance criteria with at least 85% agreement with the Gold Standard.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) with a minimum of 2 years of experience in sleep diagnostics.
- OR
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 2 years of experience in sleep diagnostics.
- OR
- Registered EEG Technician with a minimum of 2 years of experience in sleep diagnostics.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office and Windows is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Sleep/Works computerized acquisition systems is preferred.
Physical Demands:
Employees must possess the ability to see and read information, labels, and assess patient needs. Frequent communication with patients and care providers is essential, requiring clear verbal skills and the ability to understand spoken information quickly, especially in emergencies. Manual dexterity is necessary for operating complex equipment, which includes regular computer use for documentation and information access. The role may require lifting and moving patients, bending to retrieve supplies, and navigating busy environments. Standing for extended periods may also be necessary.
