Overview
The Chief Engineer of Biomedical Services is tasked with overseeing the Biomedical Engineering Division within the Veterans Health Administration.

This role includes the supervision of technical personnel, such as engineers and biomedical technicians, across various healthcare facilities. Travel between locations is required.

Responsibilities
This position is part of an ongoing recruitment effort and will remain open for applications. The initial review of applications will occur shortly after the announcement is made, with subsequent reviews occurring regularly.

The Chief Engineer plays a vital role in enhancing patient care by leveraging engineering and managerial expertise in healthcare technology. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Establishing policies and guidelines for consistent practices across the organization, focusing on Continuous Performance Improvement and Digital Transformation.
  2. Identifying and disseminating best practices throughout the system while ensuring effective communication with relevant stakeholders, particularly within the Biomedical Engineering teams.
  3. Developing policies for equipment management to comply with regulatory standards.
  4. Collaborating with clinical programs to assess medical technology needs and set maintenance and quality assurance standards.
  5. Advising senior leadership on medical technology viability, safety, and compatibility.
  6. Facilitating evaluations of high-cost medical equipment investments.
  7. Coordinating planning efforts for site preparation and technology integration.
  8. Providing support to multidisciplinary teams in the deployment of specialized medical technologies.
  9. Analyzing operational challenges and proposing efficient solutions.
  10. Acting as a subject matter expert in Biomedical Engineering, providing support for clinical technology management.

Work Schedule:
Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Compensation and Benefits:
Competitive salary with regular increases. Eligible for a recruitment or relocation incentive based on qualifications.
