POSITION TITLE: Laundry Attendant

DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping

REPORTS TO: Director of Housekeeping

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Laundry Attendant plays a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and cleanliness of the laundry operations. This position requires familiarity with laundry equipment and processes, including sorting, washing, drying, and folding linens.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Availability to work on weekends and holidays.
  • Ensure the laundry room is kept clean and organized.
  • Regularly check the laundry chute to manage incoming items.
  • Sort and categorize dirty linens for processing.
  • Operate washers and dryers effectively.
  • Identify and document any damaged linens.
  • Assist in monthly inventory checks.
  • Report any maintenance needs related to laundry equipment.
  • Manage multiple loads of linen simultaneously.
  • Maintain a consistent rotation of linens throughout shifts.
  • Set appropriate wash and dry cycles based on fabric types.
  • Organize linens by type and ensure they are neatly stored.
  • Propose improvements for laundry efficiency.
  • Exhibit a friendly and positive demeanor towards guests.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or GED.

Experience: One to two years in a housekeeping role preferred.

SKILLS:

  • Effective communication skills in English with guests and team members.
  • Basic counting and numerical skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to perform tasks with speed and accuracy.
  • Physical capability to lift heavy items and remain active throughout the day.
  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors.
  • Good vision for identifying stains and imperfections.
  • Knowledge of stain removal techniques.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Tasks include sorting, washing, drying, pressing, and folding various textile items, as well as applying appropriate stain removal methods.

EQUIPMENT USED: Laundry chemicals, carts, and cleaning tools.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to squat and lift as needed.
  • Ability to push and pull laundry carts.
  • Compliance with workplace policies and ethical standards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work primarily occurs in the laundry area, which may experience high temperatures due to equipment operation.
