Patient Service Representative Float

Job Summary
The Patient Service Representative Float position is a vital role within our organization, working in conjunction with providers and clinical staff to take care of patients' administrative needs. This position is responsible for checking patients in for appointments, collecting patient payments, answering telephones, taking accurate messages, scheduling appointments, checking patients out, coordinating referrals, and checking insurance eligibility.
This role utilizes our electronic medical record system to verify and update patient demographic information, as well as, posting and balancing of payments collected.
Key Responsibilities
- Check patients in for appointments and collect patient payments
- Answer telephones and take accurate messages
- Schedule appointments and check patients out
- Coordinate referrals and check insurance eligibility
- Utilize electronic medical record system to verify and update patient demographic information and post and balance payments collected
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- 1 year of experience in a healthcare environment or a minimum of 2 years of customer service experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Experience with electronic medical records preferred
- Strong computer skills including experience with Intranet and Internet usage, Excel, Word, email, and web-based applications
