The Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing services to our most vulnerable neighbors. We are seeking a qualified professional to fill the role of Foster Care and Adoption Specialist.

As a member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting assessment home studies and providing monitoring and supervision for kinship caregivers, licensed foster parents, and adoptive parents within their homes. This role involves ensuring compliance with program objectives, state laws, and regulatory requirements while supporting families and children through home visits, community resources, and collaborative efforts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting families with paperwork for home studies, renewals, and amendments.
  • Conducting in-home visits and monitoring to ensure compliance with licensing and state standards.
  • Writing comprehensive monthly supervision reports and maintaining accurate client records.

Additional duties may include arranging qualified respite care for foster families, facilitating recruitment and orientation for potential foster care families, and completing adoption home studies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in human services, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to assess family strengths and recognize signs of abuse/neglect.
