Position Overview

The Senior Project Engineer will operate on-site at construction projects, providing essential support to the project team to guarantee the quality and timely execution of design-build projects from inception to completion. Key responsibilities include: scheduling, subcontractor procurement, cost tracking, subcontract preparation, owner coordination, construction quality oversight, and project closure. You may also manage smaller projects independently, mentor Project Engineers and Summer Construction Interns, and assume additional responsibilities to progress towards a Project Manager role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the project team and preconstruction services to develop a Project Chart of Accounts.
  • Work with the Project Superintendent to create a project site logistics plan.
  • Assist the Superintendent in managing subcontractors effectively.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the Clayco/Owner contract.
  • Oversee the processes for submittals, change orders, and payment requests.
  • Support the generation of project costs and Job Cost Reports.
  • Contribute to the analysis and forecasting of quarterly Total Cost Projection reports.
  • Monitor and document the training of all project personnel.
  • Track project labor and equipment requirements.
  • Assist preconstruction services in project bidding.
  • Implement relevant safety, EEO, and Affirmative Action programs.
  • Engage in the project's quality assurance processes.
  • Support scheduling and project close-out activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience in managing construction projects valued at $5 million or more, preferably in design-build.
  • Proven knowledge of construction principles, practices, and technologies.
  • Previous experience leading a successful project management team.
  • Physical capability to navigate job sites, including climbing ladders and multi-floor scaffolding.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing at least 50 lbs.

Compensation and Benefits
