About the Role

Kaiser Aluminum is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineering Lead to join our team in Spokane, Washington. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing electrical project engineering activities, directing resources, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and facilitate cross-functional project teams to develop project scope and requirements.
  • Develop and manage project scope, resourcing plan, budget, and schedule.
  • Prepare capital authorizations and administer engineering, equipment purchase, and installation contracts.
  • Coordinate and manage installations and outages, track and report project performance, schedule, and cost compliance.
  • Review design packages and drawings for compliance with contract documents and Kaiser standards.
  • Coordinate with internal Operations, Maintenance, Technical, and Engineering resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Participate in the final check-out of new installations, including factory and site acceptance testing.
  • Assist in trouble-shooting equipment control and electrical systems, and recognize and prioritize project needs to support the facility's power infrastructure.
  • Direct resources to support continuous improvements efforts for electrical safety initiatives and Kaiser's electrical standards.
  • Provide input into the future capital project planning process through updates and development of lists of electrical systems requiring updates, including automation opportunities.
  • Mentor and coach direct reports to provide a consistent product that complies with Kaiser processes, standards, codes, and best practices.
Requirements
  • An undergraduate degree in BSEE or BSET is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years previous electrical engineering experience, with demonstrated experience managing projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with functional and performance-based specification development, familiarity with electrical and control system design, and knowledge of low and medium voltage electrical systems, AC/DC motors and drive systems, and National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E.
  • Knowledge of control system theory, instrumentation, PLC based control systems, and safety systems, excellent analytical skills, including knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and strong Word, Excel, MS Project skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills, proven ability to work in teams, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
