Job Overview

Position Summary:

  • Develop and design electronic circuits and related technologies.
  • Offer analytical support and conduct simulations to assess electronic circuit performance, producing necessary technical documentation for product development teams.
  • Create test fixtures, tooling, and test procedures to ensure consistent quality in camera system production.
  • Provide technical guidance and circuit design suggestions to the engineering department.
  • Engage in research and development for innovative circuit designs intended for future product lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analysis and Modeling:
  • Model components of camera systems, including imagers, amplifiers, and high-speed serial data.
  • Conduct thorough analyses and simulations to evaluate worst-case tolerances, ensuring optimal performance and reliable manufacturing yields.
  • Develop analytical and testing methodologies to objectively measure imaging system performance.
  • Communicate analytical findings effectively with the engineering team.
  • Utilize empirical methods to validate analytical models, updating assumptions as necessary.
  • Document analysis results in technical reports and presentations for design reviews.
  • Project Development Collaboration:
  • Contribute design insights, constraints, and trade-offs to project managers.
  • Collaborate with electronics engineers to design and analyze new electronic circuits according to specifications and cost targets.
  • Work alongside PWB designers to ensure optimal circuit layout and signal integrity.
  • Coordinate with mechanical and thermal engineers to enhance packaging, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and EMC standards set by regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in prototype development and testing with the project team.
  • Assist in the documentation and production release processes, including technical transfer presentations to manufacturing and quality teams.
  • Sustaining Support:
  • Provide ongoing support for existing product lines, addressing field and manufacturing issues.
  • Identify validation test requirements to troubleshoot and resolve sustaining challenges.
  • Design and validate new testing requirements and methodologies.
  • General Engineering Duties:
  • Offer technical direction for the maintenance of design assurance checks.
  • Conduct seminars and tutorials for engineering staff.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality.
  • Regular attendance is essential for this role.

  • Consider the final application of devices in all activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in computer schematic software such as Altium or equivalent.
  • Experience with simulation software like Spice or HyperLynx.
  • Strong understanding of NTSC/PAL video systems.
  • Knowledge of CCD and CMOS imager technologies.
  • Competence in analog and digital circuit design.
  • Familiarity with medical device quality system regulations (e.g., FDA Quality System Regulation, ISO standards).

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Analog Design or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in analog/digital system design and analysis; or a Master's degree in Engineering with relevant experience.
  • Solid understanding of low noise sensor interfaces and high-speed circuits.
  • Proficient in mathematics, circuit modeling, and associated software tools.
  • Ability to operate advanced testing equipment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with CCDs and FPGAs is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with endoscopy technology is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Visual acuity sufficient for testing purposes.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods during meetings and computer work.
  • Capability to lift equipment weighing approximately 20 lbs.
  • Ability to connect electrical devices.

Training Requirements:

  • Annual training on Injury and Illness Prevention Program as per OSHA requirements.
  • Quality Systems training.
  • Job-specific training as required.

Supervision Level:

  • General goals are set by the supervisor during annual reviews, derived from company objectives.
  • Tasks are defined by the employee based on these goals and reviewed by the supervisor.
  • Works with general instructions for routine tasks and detailed instructions for new assignments.
  • Peer review of work is required and scheduled as necessary.

Internal/External Interface:

  • Collaboration with project engineers and managers.
  • Engagement with engineering peers for design reviews and PWB layout.
  • Coordination with manufacturing engineers on imaging performance issues.
  • Interaction with vendors and external services for component specifications and testing.
