Pediatric Healthcare Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Medical Assistant to join our team at Compassion Pediatrics LLC. As a key member of our patient-centered medical home team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our medical facility.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a high-quality patient experience by welcoming patients, ensuring a safe patient environment, and adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
- Perform and document patient intake vitals, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate, and notify clinicians of any abnormal findings.
- Interview patients based on age appropriateness and/or specialty needs, accurately documenting and updating medical records to include chief complaint, current medications, medical and surgical histories, and family and social histories.
- Obtain necessary medical records, consultation notes, hospital inpatient and/or ED discharge records, diagnostic and laboratory results for clinician review and treatment follow-up as needed.
- Prepare patients for clinician examinations, ensure clinician orders are performed and accurately documented, and assist clinicians in necessary age-appropriate vision, hearing screenings, electrocardiograms, and other procedures.
- Perform and document vaccine and medication reconciliation with patients and state registries, provide written vaccine information statements, and educate patients/parents prior to vaccine and medication administration.
- Ensure and adhere to vaccine cold chain management, proper handling, storage, preparation, and administration, including reporting vaccine excursions.
- Perform proper patient identifiers, buddy process validation, and vaccine and medication administration, including intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections with post-observation.
- Complete patient follow-up and tasks assigned to meet patient needs, including answering phones, handling correspondence, prescription refill requests, and obtaining medication preauthorization.
- Perform phlebotomy, lab sample collection, and proper processing with documentation and reporting to clinicians as outlined per policy.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- MA Diploma or 3+ years of MA experience.
- 1 year of Medical Assistant experience preferred, but not required.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
