About the Position

The Speech Language Pathologist will be responsible for evaluating and treating patients with communication and swallowing disorders, developing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care. This role requires a strong foundation in speech-language pathology principles, experience working with patients across various age groups, and excellent documentation and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients with communication and swallowing disorders using standardized assessments and develop personalized treatment plans
  • Administer speech therapy sessions to patients, both individually and in groups, to improve communication and swallowing abilities
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and therapists, to ensure seamless care coordination and effective treatment outcomes
  • Document patient progress, treatment plans, and communication with colleagues in a clear and concise manner
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures
Requirements

To succeed as a Speech Language Pathologist at Memorial Hermann Health System, you will need:

  • A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university
  • A current license to practice speech-language pathology in Texas and certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a hospital or clinical setting, preferably in speech-language pathology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
