Join Our Team as a Graduate Assistant in Science

Grand Canyon University is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated graduate student to serve as a Graduate Assistant in our College of Natural Sciences. As a Graduate Assistant, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable teaching and research experience while pursuing your graduate degree.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach science laboratory courses in your area of expertise
  • Develop and provide instruction that incorporates current teaching methodologies, technologies, and trends in the field
  • Engage students in the classroom to stimulate discussions and promote collective learning
  • Stay current on topics and practices related to the discipline
  • Incorporate relevant research resources and experiential activities to support course objectives, lectures, and learning outcomes
  • Assess student performance in accordance with University Assessment Practices
  • Maintain compliance with all college and University policies and program accreditation/licensure requirements
  • Assist students outside of the classroom
  • Prepare for laboratory experiences for students
  • Clean up after lab experiences
  • May supervise the setup of labs in the sciences
  • Assist a faculty member with a research project; engage in literature searches, development of new material for their courses
Requirements:
  • Be admitted to a graduate degree-seeking program at GCU
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Be enrolled in at least 6 graduate-level units leading to the degree
  • Assistantships may be revoked at any time if duties are not fulfilled satisfactorily
  • Graduate Assistants assume responsibility for upholding the University's Student Code of Conduct
  • Graduate Assistants are eligible for waiver of tuition for the period employed
  • Graduate Assistants must follow the HR employment workflow processes and pre-employment background checks
  • Graduate Assistants have restricted work hours (maximum of 29 hours per week)
