As an Instructional Assistant in the College of Natural Sciences, you will play a vital role in shaping the futures of Grand Canyon University students. This part-time opportunity allows you to work face-to-face with students on the traditional ground campus, providing hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences.

The College of Natural Sciences offers pre-professional degrees in biology, microbiology, chemistry, physics, environmental science, forensic science, and exercise science. As an Instructional Assistant, you will assist instructors with course material preparation, grading, and lecturing, while also holding office hours to answer student questions and tutor them.

Responsibilities include:

  • Keeping in communication with assigned instructors on a regular basis
  • Staying updated and prepared for classroom agendas and materials
  • Attending and assisting instructors in every class
  • Helping with course material preparation, grading, and lecturing
  • Holding office hours to answer student questions and tutor them

As an Instructional Assistant, you will be responsible for equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance, and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession.

Additionally, you will assist with in-class activities, including proctoring examinations, observing students' performance, and recording relevant data to aid instructors in assessing progress.

Grand Canyon Education, Inc. is committed to a student-first policy, and all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelor's or Master's program
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor's level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master's level student
  • Maintain good financial and academic standing with the University

Physical requirements include sitting for 5 hours a day, standing for 3 hours a day, and walking for 1 hour a day. Lifting, carrying, pushing, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and grasping are not required. Fine eye-hand coordination is continuously required, and driving is not necessary for this position.

The work environment is primarily inside an office building on site, subject to variations in temperature and weather, equipment noise, and dust.
