Job Summary

The Human Resource Generalist performs specialized duties in support of the university's Human Resources function. This role is responsible for the human resource processes required for student workers full cycle hiring at Albany State University. This position resolves benefits-related problems and ensures effective use of plans and positive employee relations.

Responsibilities
  • Processes all student workers full cycle hiring process.
  • Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
  • Assist hiring managers with processing of HRAFs for student workers.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Verification of Employment Requests (calculating and completing any mortgage verifications received, typing letters, providing employment information for various requests).
  • Establishes Active Directory (AD), Name Change and Title Changes with ITS: Generate daily tickets for any Active Directory Accounts to establish email and accesses to other systems (Banner, Peoplesoft).
  • Process name changes and Title changes in Samanage Ticketing System with ITS.
  • Manages assigned projects and ensuring it meets predetermined requirements.
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
  • Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
  • Submits online investigation requests and assists with new-employee background checks.
  • Assists with processing of terminations.
  • Assists with the preparation of the performance review process.
  • Assists with recruitment and interview process. Tracks status of candidates in HRIS and responds with follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting process.
  • Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by the director of HR.
  • Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
  • Files documents into appropriate employee files.
  • Assists or prepares correspondence as requested.
  • Prepares new-employee files.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field or a combination of training and equivalent experience.

At least one year of human resources experience.

Two years of experience with with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, especially Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

2-3 years of experience working in a HR department.

PeopleSoft experience.

Proposed Salary

Salary range is from $37,000 to $45,000.
