Power BI Administration Role:

As a Power BI Administrator at HCLTech, you will be responsible for the full administration of the Power BI service, including user management, connection management, workspace management, gateway administration, and data sources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploying and managing Power BI gateways, including setting up default browsers, patching Windows servers, and ensuring compatibility with anti-virus software.
  • Configuring and managing Power BI services, data sources, and gateways.
  • Troubleshooting common installation or network issues, including proxies.
  • Implementing performance logging and optimization techniques to improve performance.
  • Installing drivers and certificates, and setting up ODBC connections for various databases, including Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
  • Creating and managing connections for datasets, dataflows, and data marts.
  • Migrating or repointing existing connections from a single cluster deployment to a multi-cluster deployment.
  • Cleaning up user access from the old cluster after migration.
  • Creating new repository and Excel documentation for connection management.

Requirements:

  • Experience with Power BI administration, including user management, connection management, and gateway administration.
  • Knowledge of database management systems, including Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with ODBC connections and data source management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot common installation or network issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
