POSITION SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Planner plays a crucial role in orchestrating, organizing, and managing maintenance operations for the essential assets of our dynamic premium dairy processing and distribution facility.
By collaborating with Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams, the Maintenance Planner guarantees effective and efficient equipment upkeep, reducing downtime and expenses while enhancing production quality and customer service levels.
This position serves as a leadership role within the maintenance department, working closely with the Maintenance Manager.The Maintenance Planner is tasked with overseeing the overall logistics, planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor all facets of maintenance processes, ensuring timely implementation and a focus on continuous improvement.
- Facilitate consistent interdepartmental communication, providing updates and follow-ups on work orders.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to ensure compliance with audits and proper documentation of maintenance activities.
- Manage maintenance logistics to allow the Maintenance Manager to concentrate on team leadership.
- Develop and oversee maintenance schedules and work orders to ensure effective production and processing systems.
- Implement strategies and directives from senior leadership.
- Work with maintenance personnel to identify equipment, parts, and systems needing replacement, communicating these needs to procurement or management teams.
- Provide clear guidance to maintenance team members regarding work orders, projects, and timelines for installations, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, ensuring regular inspections of all machinery and equipment, addressing and communicating identified issues promptly.
- Manage unplanned maintenance requests and allocate appropriate resources to fulfill maintenance orders.
- Engage with vendors and contractors to maintain maintenance schedules.
- Identify potential maintenance equipment or process-related issues through root cause analysis and problem-solving initiatives.
- Collaborate with Operations teams on projects involving equipment rebuilds/upgrades and related controls, programming, electrical, and automation to optimize system efficiency.
- Assist Operations leadership in identifying and procuring new equipment or systems, coordinating delivery, installation, testing, and contract fulfillment.
- Analyze and report on key maintenance performance indicators (KPIs) to develop and implement corrective actions.
- Participate in the development and implementation of maintenance standard operating procedures.
- Work closely with the Quality team to ensure effective quality assurance processes related to maintenance and equipment.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed and associated costs.
- Adhere to health, safety, security, and emergency requirements communicated by management or mandated by law.
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and all established processes.
- Act as a liaison for the maintenance team regarding Redzone initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to company procedures, standards, and sustainability goals in daily maintenance or engineering tasks.
- Participate in team meetings, safety meetings, and other company gatherings as required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant electrical and mechanical equipment or systems.
- Exhibit excellent attendance and perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of maintenance planning experience in a dairy processing or food manufacturing environment is required.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) and understanding of equipment maintenance, reliability, and asset management are required.
- Solid mechanical and electrical troubleshooting expertise in a manufacturing environment is essential.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is preferred.
- Working knowledge of P&IDs, one-line diagrams, panel drawings, and electrical schematics is required.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Teams and smart technology, is required.
- Intermediate or better English verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Intermediate math skills for calculations and conversions are necessary.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
- Passion for the organics industry, sustainability, and responsible business practices is preferred.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, be on call after hours, and work weekends and holidays as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work on a computer and view a screen for extended periods.
- This position requires computer and/or PLC work for approximately 50% of the time.
- Full sensory evaluation (sight, smell, taste) as well as auditory and vocal senses are required for assessing product quality and production processes.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with frequent periods of sitting, standing, walking, and climbing stairs.
- Ability to lift, hold, and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.
