Job Summary:

As a Production Manager at IDEX, you will oversee the day-to-day activities of our production team, ensuring that we meet our daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals. You will be responsible for developing employees, staying within departmental budget, making employment decisions related to employees, and assessing the performance of team leaders and employees. You will also train the workforce in Lean Manufacturing methodologies and utilize Lean manufacturing tools to eliminate manufacturing waste.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage daily production, including developing employees, staying within departmental budget, and making employment decisions related to employees.
Assess the performance of team leaders and employees.
Train the workforce in Lean Manufacturing methodologies and utilize Lean manufacturing tools to eliminate manufacturing waste.
Directly manage departmental cells and work cooperatively with other functional managers, supervisors, and leaders to optimize production efficiency.
Frequently communicate with peers and management using respect, integrity, cooperation, teamwork, and professionalism.
Shift job priorities based on customer needs.
Ensure individual accountability for meeting product quality standards and production schedule commitments.
Maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
Supervise and coordinate activities to ensure production flow and quality control standards for all manufacturing departments.
Work with planning to schedule daily operations to effectively utilize workforce and equipment in accordance with material availability and flow requirements.
Administer the application of company policies, including performance evaluations, attendance, safety, grievances, and routine working rules and regulations.
Identify staffing and equipment needs to meet production requirements.
Hire, train, and motivate personnel as required.
Schedule approved overtime in accordance with accepted practices.
Identify product/production problems, review production re-work and rejected part inspection reports, and assist in determining and eliminating causes.
Work with support departments to minimize rejects/scrap and maintain optimum production flow.
Requisition equipment maintenance or repair of tools to maximize production efficiency and minimize downtime.
Schedule major repairs with manufacturing services.
Participate in production machine layout planning and modifications, including considerations for production flow, safety, power, and operating requirements.
Transition new products from engineering to production to meet new/rapid/prototype requirements.
Assist employees in resolving problems involving work practices and morale.
Drive continuous improvement through the use of Lean manufacturing tools and practices.
Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
Understand and follow safety rules and cleanliness standards.
Assemble products using a combination of manual actions, hand tools, and light machinery.
Meet daily production productivity and quality targets.
Understand and follow work assignments and perform work per released written work instructions.
Adhere to ISO 9001 certified quality program requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and related technical training.
5+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
Clear understanding of inventory flow through the entire business operation.
Demonstrated knowledge of administrative procedures, manufacturing and/or engineering documentation, work schedules, set-ups, methods, and procedures, and equipment operation.
Demonstrated presentation and written/verbal communication skills to properly direct, assist, and train personnel.
Experience with an ERP system (preferably JD Edwards or Oracle).

Mixed-use facility with office, laboratory, machine shop, manufacturing, and warehousing with light to moderate noise levels.
General and specific safety practices are required, including but not limited to safety glasses and gloves.
