Job Summary:

The Service Superintendent is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations on a job site and controlling the short-term schedule. This role plays a critical part in ensuring quality control and subcontractor coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review project information from the Project Manager.
  • Familiarize yourself with plans, specifications, site conditions, local codes, and inspection procedures.
  • Coordinate staff and, when necessary, hire additional personnel in coordination with Human Resources.
  • Attend preconstruction meetings and provide guidance on activities, including set-up, work in-place, and project closeout/demobilization.
  • Monitor and address performance issues with field staff, involving Human Resources as needed.
  • Participate in site orientation training and review craft worker certifications and training for specialty craft roles.
  • Review and approve weekly labor reports and address any issues.
  • Set up field offices, communications, and temporary services as required.
  • Assist the Project Manager in developing the project schedule and purchasing supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Schedule employees, subcontractors, and deliveries to avoid impacting the project schedule.
  • Manage quality control of self-performance and subcontractors' work and schedule required inspections.
  • Complete and submit all necessary paperwork.
  • Establish and maintain benchmarks and reference points for ongoing work layout.
  • Resolve conflicts with job site representatives and subcontractors, communicating any issues to the Project Manager.
  • Implement and enforce company safety policy in coordination with the Safety Director.
  • Support the Safety Director with site safety audits and coordinate with equipment facilities and outside providers for project equipment.
  • Attend job meetings and walk-throughs at job completion and ensure all tools are accounted for.
  • Facilitate weekly safety meetings at the job site and collect, review, and submit field staff timecards.
  • Close out field offices and projects as necessary and participate in department meetings as requested.

Requirements:

  • Minimum years of construction supervision experience.
  • Minimum years of experience in a union environment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Passed the State Union Apprenticeship program.
  • Ability to read and understand technical specifications, construction plans, and plumbing and medical gas construction systems.
  • Broad understanding of construction systems and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and be organized with prioritized tasks.
