Key Responsibilities:

  • Builds Trusting Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with guests, providing them with the support and resources they need to succeed.
  • Ensures a Safe Environment: Monitor and maintain a safe and secure environment for all guests and staff, responding to potential stressful situations and incidents.
  • Provides Exceptional Customer Service: Deliver high-quality customer service to guests, responding to their needs and concerns in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Supports Staff: Assist staff with separating physical altercations and provide support as needed.
  • Maintains a Clean and Organized Environment: Help maintain a clean, sanitized, and orderly environment, including patrolling the premises and picking up trash.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma; Associates degree in Social Work or Human Services preferred.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of work experience as a security guard or in a relevant position, with experience working with people who have mental health and substance abuse issues.
  • Skills: Friendly, welcoming, empathic, tolerant, and passionate about helping others succeed; ability to adapt quickly to an ever-changing environment; ability to work autonomously; knowledge of Dane County/Madison resources for people who are homeless.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical Demands: Stand, walk, or climb stairs steadily for up to 8 hours; occasionally bend, twist, or lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Mental Demands: Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required.
