We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Chemist to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. As a key member of our R&D department, you will be responsible for the development of liquid and paste UV-cure inks and coatings.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop new and modify existing UV/LED-cure ink and coating formulas using experimental design to meet customer requirements.
- Conduct ink and coatings-related tests and experiments in a laboratory environment using standard and novel test procedures.
- Accurately interpret data and results, document conclusions within project management database, and communicate conclusions and product direction to internal functional partners and external customers.
- Work closely with existing and new raw material suppliers to evaluate new and/or replacement materials for use in ink and coating product formulations.
- Provide scale-up and support for the ink product formulas with manufacturing, including the establishment of testing requirements, specifications, and trouble-shooting assistance.
- Provide product and process recommendations as required based on requests for information from customers and other internal functions such as Sales.
- Support business revenue growth through product innovation, including literature surveys, industry engagement, and experimentation in the lab.
- Prepare prints of inks and coatings or other marketing-related exhibits for internal and customer use.
- Align laboratory and product formulation support activities within the framework of the ISO-9001 Quality Management System.
- Provide mentoring and direction to less-experienced R&D and Regulatory staff members.
- Lead cross-functional project teams related to product changes, product development, and/or process modification.
- UV/LED-cure ink and coating formulation expertise
- Experimental design skills
- Laboratory testing experience
- Data interpretation and project management skills
- Raw material evaluation and manufacturing support experience
- Product Safety Data Sheets creation and ISO-9001 Quality Management System knowledge
