Position Overview

The primary objective of the Assessment Coordination Specialist is to deliver comprehensive testing support services for faculty, students, military personnel, and the broader community.

This role involves providing guidance, routine direction, daily oversight, training, and advisory support to testing center personnel, including full-time coordinators, temporary staff, and student workers, concerning testing policies, procedures, and anticipated outcomes.

Additionally, this position will offer administrative assistance to the Director of Testing Services.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Education/Experience substitutions may apply.

Computer Skills: Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and familiarity with Banner software is preferred.

Experience:
  1. Minimum of one (1) year of customer service or related office experience is required.
  2. Experience in test administration or related operations is strongly preferred.
  3. Prior work experience in a college or university setting is highly desirable.
Licenses & Certifications:

Criminal history check and a valid driver's license are required. Additional background checks may be necessary for conducting FAA and FCC testing.

Key Skills and Competencies:

Attention to detail, budget management skills, effective communication abilities (oral, written, and nonverbal), knowledge of a university environment, strong human relations/interpersonal skills, leadership capabilities including organization and project management, and supervisory skills encompassing motivation and evaluation.

Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines and maintaining confidentiality is essential. Candidates must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and interact professionally with students to discern their needs.

Furthermore, candidates should demonstrate the ability to adhere to strict standardized testing procedures, maintain test security, and work effectively in a dynamic environment with frequent interruptions.

Comfort in public speaking and providing instruction is crucial, as is the ability to ease the anxiety of test-takers. An appreciation for diverse learning styles and backgrounds is also important.

Physical & Environmental Considerations:

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and work under various conditions, including travel as needed for training and testing management.

Work Conditions:

This role may require irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, to supervise and proctor tests. Professional appearance and the ability to work in stressful conditions are expected.

Certification to administer all exams offered by Testing Services is required within three months of employment.
