EKG/Monitor Technician

We are seeking a skilled EKG/Monitor Tech to join our team at Ochsner Health. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring patients' heart rates and rhythms, communicating any ECG changes to the appropriate department, and maintaining telemetry equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recognize life-threatening arrhythmias and report to the appropriate department STAT.
  • Maintain visual check of monitors.
  • Maintain log of patients being monitored.
  • Provide accurate information in an informative manner respecting patients' rights.
  • Interpret basic ECG strips for rate & rhythm.
  • Troubleshoot & collaborate with Biomed/nurses for GE telemetry problems.
  • Recognize artifact & troubleshoot effectively.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • State Certification for ECG, ECG certificate program or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Telemetry Monitoring system.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
