Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Ochsner Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and respiratory therapy services to patients of all ages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support services to in-patients and out-patients.
  • Monitor and wean oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation, draw, analyze, and report arterial blood gases and EKGs.
  • Deliver intermittent therapy and assist with changing artificial airways as ordered by a physician and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related field.
  • Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification (for therapists working in the NICU).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions

The incumbent works in a patient care area, works in an area where patients enter, works directly with patients, and/or works with specimens that could contain communicable diseases.

There may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment.
