Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Mayo Clinic. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting high-quality blood samples from patients of all ages using various phlebotomy methods. Your attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team will be essential in providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood samples from patients using venous, capillary, arterial, and line collections methods.
  • Provide rapid response to medical emergencies, such as traumas and codes.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, handling, and transportation.
  • Utilize computer programs and systems to manage daily tasks and responsibilities.
  • Participate in the training of students and new employees.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a medical field preferred.
  • Ability to push a cart and walk distances.
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes and projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid phlebotomy certification from an approved laboratory certification agency.
  • Medical Assistant (MA) certification from an approved agency.
  • Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) certification.
Compensation and Benefits

Competitive hourly rate of $24.48 for Phlebotomist I and $26.14 for Phlebotomist II.

Full-time position with rotating shifts, including Saturday mornings.
