Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Mayo Clinic. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting high-quality blood samples from patients of all ages using various phlebotomy methods. Your expertise will play a critical role in supporting our medical teams and ensuring accurate diagnoses.
Key Responsibilities- Collect blood samples from patients using venous, capillary, arterial, and line collections methods.
- Provide rapid response to medical emergencies, such as traumas and codes.
- Work independently and as part of a team to ensure efficient and effective sample collection.
- Interact with patients, nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure excellent customer satisfaction.
- Use computer programs and systems to manage sample collection and processing.
- Accurately identify patients, label, handle, and transport samples.
- Answer phones and assist with training new employees and students.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Experience working in a medical field preferred.
- Ability to push a cart and walk distances.
- Moderate to advanced computer skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adapt to changes in work volumes and projects.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Valid phlebotomy certification from an approved laboratory certification agency, such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Health Career Association (NHA), or the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT).
- Medical Assistant (MA) certification from an approved agency, such as the American Medical Association (AMA), Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), or Medical Technologist (MT) certification.
Phlebotomist I: $24.48 per hour
Phlebotomist II: $26.14 per hour
Benefits eligible, full-time position with rotating shifts and approximately one Saturday every 10 weekends.
