Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Swim Instructor to join our team at Bend Park and Recreation District. As a Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching swimming lessons to individuals of all ages and skill levels, promoting water safety and providing a positive learning experience.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver swimming lessons to groups and individuals, following established curriculum and safety guidelines.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to ensure students meet their learning goals.
  • Develop and maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, adhering to district policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a positive and inclusive experience.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance teaching skills and stay current with industry best practices.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 16 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current certification in Red Cross Water Safety Instruction (WSI) or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Physical ability to perform duties associated with swimming and teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Experience working with children and adults with varying skill levels and abilities.
  • Knowledge of swimming techniques and safety procedures.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in and out of the water, with frequent exposure to noise and varying temperatures. The ability to work in a team environment and maintain a positive attitude is essential.

Selection Process

Applicants will be screened based on their relevant experience, skills, and training. A background check and driving history review may be required for this position.
