Job Description

At Kettle Moraine YMCA, we are seeking a skilled Swim Instructor to join our dynamic team. As a Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching swim lessons in a safe and professional manner, following our established curriculum. Your enthusiasm and expertise will help swimmers of all ages and skill levels reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and deliver daily lesson plans according to established class requirements.
  2. Keep accurate records of student progress and make decisions on class levels.
  3. Teach in the water every class and maintain a safe learning environment.
  4. Enforce safety rules and regulations to prevent risks to participants.
  5. Complete and submit progress reports and midsession reports.
  6. Present challenging yet appropriate materials for every class member and level.
  7. Set up and secure necessary equipment for classes.
  8. Record daily class attendance and communicate with parents/guardians about student progress.
  9. Secure a qualified substitute for replacement when unable to teach a class and notify the Aquatics Director in advance.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum 16 years of age.
  2. Current YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification or American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification is preferred.
  3. Ability to understand and motivate people.

Certifications:

  1. Bloodborne Pathogens/Child Abuse Prevention every year.

Physical Demands:

  1. Ability to teach in the water for long periods of time.
  2. Remain alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing, swimming, or walking.
  3. Able to assist participants of any age or weight if they are having difficulty swimming.
