This position plays a crucial part in the billing and collection processes, collaborating closely with supervisors, managers, and directors to optimize revenue cycle management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively engage in the billing process while adhering to established standards and practices within the healthcare billing sector.
- Collaborate with various departments within Tulane University Medical Group Business Services, as well as external partners and clinic staff, to facilitate effective communication and problem resolution.
- Manage initial billing tasks, follow up on claims, resolve rejected claims, and address claim edits, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Handle special accounts and keep management informed of emerging trends, updates, and any urgent issues that may arise.
- Foster a workplace environment that emphasizes productivity and employee satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with governmental billing regulations and third-party billing requirements.
- Proficient knowledge and experience with ICD9 and CPT4 coding.
- Competent in using personal computers and word processing software, particularly Microsoft Office.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work independently while meeting established deadlines.
- Strong judgment and decision-making capabilities.
- High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of three years of experience in physician billing.
- Understanding of group medical practice operations.
- Experience in data compilation and analysis.
- Familiarity with IDX physician billing software is considered a significant advantage.
