Job Summary

As a Security Officer at Memorial Hermann Health System, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our patients, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for protecting, securing, and promoting safety and security at one of our hospital campuses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and Patrol: Monitor assigned areas to ensure maximum visibility of the security presence and conduct patrols in vehicles or on foot to maintain a secure environment.
  • Access Control: Ensure the security of all designated areas and access points, controlling vehicular access to buildings and parking areas, and identifying and reporting fire and safety hazards, suspicious activities, or breaches of security.
  • Visitor and Material Management: Administer and enforce building visitor and materials pass programs to control access to areas and materials.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to all security and emergency situations as dispatched or assigned, and assist patients, visitors, and staff by answering questions and providing escorts, directions, and vehicle assists.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Complete and submit required security reports and activity logs within assigned shifts, and properly operate and care for security equipment.
  • Professional Development: Maintain knowledge of location and operation of emergency systems and equipment, and adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Licenses/Certifications: Certified as a Certified Healthcare Basic Security Officer by the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety, licensed as a Commissioned Security Officer by the Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau, and certified in Heartsaver CPR or Heartcode BLS CPR by the American Heart Association.
  • Experience/Knowledge/Skills: Must be at least 21 years of age, able to understand the English language and communicate it effectively in both verbal and written form, and proficient in the use of computers.
