Job Summary

University Medical Center seeks a highly skilled Medical Physicist to join our team. As a key member of our Radiation Oncology department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy to our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement procedures for the initial and continuing evaluation of radiation therapy treatment, brachytherapy, simulation, and radiation measurement equipment.
  • Develop and/or evaluate the diametric component of patients' treatment plans.
  • Responsible for calibration and maintenance of equipment, including routine and special calibration checks of all radiation therapy equipment to satisfy state and federal requirements.
  • Practice radiation safety for the protection of patients and determine if prescribed dose is being delivered within tolerances to patients by performing calculations of patient dose(s) or either therapeutic or diagnostic purposes.
  • Coordinate all preventative maintenance on all therapeutic machines, troubleshoot all faults on equipment, and arrange for equipment repairs.
  • Maintain proper records necessary for TJC, NRC, state, or other regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive Quality Management Program that monitors, evaluates, and optimizes radiation oncology processes.
  • Develop and/or evaluate a comprehensive clinical radiation safety program in radiation oncology.
  • Provide radiation oncology physics and radiation dosimetry training for medical practitioners and other healthcare providers.
Requirements
  • 2 years of Clinical Medical Physics (residency or beyond)
  • Master's Degree in Medical Physics, Radiological Physics, or a related field
  • Board eligible in Therapeutic Radiological Physics by the American Board of Radiology or the American Board of Medical Physics
  • Board certified by the American Board of Radiology or the American Board of Medical Physics
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Medical Physics, Radiological Physics, or a related field
